Beyond Borders Retouch
You must have already seen the Movie Beyond Borders or at least seen the picture below. So if you are wondering how it was done, keep reading.

Step One
Open up the image that you want to work on and apply the effect. Keep it mind that it is a very easy tutorial to do if you can follow up. Now think what part
of the image you would like to keep natural? For instance the nose, eyes, lips or anything else? In this tutorial we will keep the natural color of the eyes and the lips which
means they will remain how they are.

Step Two
Take the Elliptical Marquee Tool and make selection like below. Hold the Shift key to make selection in different part of the image. Release the Shift key after you are done selecting. You don't have to select exactly the eye or lip part. Feel free to make selection outside of the lips a bit if needed as the color will be faded away later, anyway.
Step Three
Now press Ctrl+J to make a layer of the selection area itself. You will see it will create a new layer.
Step Four
Select the Layer 1 and navigate your mouse to Image>Adjustments>Desaturate (Ctrl+Shift+U. Now press Ctrl+L and play around with the Levels bar to change the amount of the light of the image. Below are a few follow-ups which I've done.
